Liz's Passport Photo (1983)

This memoir records my journey to visit each national park in the Lower 48. But it's less a travelogue than moments captured in poetic snapshots. It's also keeping a promise.

In March 2015, my dear friend Liz died from ALS. Her last wish was that I plant her ashes together with milkweed seeds in America's meadows. This way, she'll be reborn to feed the Monarch butterflies and strengthen them for their long migration.
