Caddo Lake State Park, Karnack, Texas
Let's lose ourselves among the draped cypress. We'll eat crawdads and bluegills, drink brown water. And the ages of men will pass us by.

Bernie Sanders Banner, Russellville, Arkansas
Here's a sign supporting Bernie Sanders that I wouldn't have expected to find in smalltown Russellville, Arkansas. Pretty clever, too.
Howard Johnson, Hot Springs, Arkansas
Hot Springs, Arkansas, is tawdry and tattered. The park's bathhouses are interesting landmarks, but hardly the natural glory I expect from a National Park.

Killer Bunny, Busch, Arkansas
"That's the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on!" ... Now where's my Holy Hand Grenade?!
Car-Mart, Rogers, Arkansas
Even by the Walmart Home Office, Old Sam has his imitators. Wonder if he found it flattering? (BTW, I saw this chain several places in Arkansas and Texas.)

Walmart Home Office, Bentonville, Arkansas
Forget Wall Street and NYC generally – This unassuming building is the power center of American business. Walmart doesn't need to show off with a fancy HQ.
Sequoyah's Cabin, Registered National Historic Landmark, Sallisaw, Oklahoma
This plaque was the closest I got to Sequoyah's Cabin on July 4 weekend. I need to display his portrait next to lexicographers Noah Webster and Samuel Johnson.*
* Think I'm kidding? Look closely at my photographic portrait. That's Joshua Reynold's portrait of Samuel Johnson to the right of my head (your right), and Noah Webster is next to him but cut off in the photo.

Storm, Arkansas City, Kansas
"And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so." — Genesis 1:7
Day Lilies, Arkansas City, Kansas
Day Lilies dance to Kansas winds, stepping lightly along old fence lines and smiling brazenly at the sun.
